ORS 837.360 – Public Body UAS Registration and PenaltiesEffective: 1/1/2016

Requires public bodies to register UAS with the Oregon Department of Aviation, establishes civil penalties up to \$10,000 for noncompliance.

ORS 837.340 – UAS in Criminal Investigations and Accident ReconstructionEffective: 1/1/2013

Allows law enforcement to deploy UAS for crime scene and accident reconstructions, limited to five days per investigation.

ORS 837.370 – Operation Over Private PremisesEffective: 1/1/2013

Prohibits operating a UAS over private property boundaries in a manner that intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly harasses or annoys the property owner.

Permits law enforcement training with UAS systems and renders any evidence acquired inadmissible in judicial proceedings.

ORS 837.330 – Written Consent for UAS OperationsEffective: 1/1/2013

Permits law enforcement to use UAS to acquire information about an individual or their property if the individual gives written consent.

ORS 837.320 – Authorized Law Enforcement Use with Warrant or Exigent CircumstancesEffective: 1/1/2013

Allows law enforcement to operate a UAS, acquire information, or disclose information if authorized by warrant or under exigent circumstances for crimes.

ORS 837.385 – Preemption of Local UAS RegulationsEffective: 1/1/2013

Vests exclusive authority to regulate UAS in the state legislature, prohibiting local governments from enacting UAS ownership or operation ordinances unless expressly authorized by statute.

ORS 837.310 – Restrictions on Law Enforcement UAS UseEffective: 1/1/2013

Prohibits a law enforcement agency from operating an unmanned aircraft system or disclosing information acquired through its operation except as provided in ORS 837.320 to 837.345.

ORS 837.365 – Weaponized UAS Prohibition and PenaltiesEffective: 1/1/2017

Prohibits operation of weaponized UAS; default Class A misdemeanor with Class C felony for firing projectiles and Class B felony for causing serious physical injury.

ORS 837.335 – Search and Rescue and Emergency OperationsEffective: 1/1/2013

Authorizes UAS use by law enforcement for search and rescue activities and emergencies, with reporting requirements to the court within 48 hours.
